Edwina Yeo (born in 1989) is the daughter of former Singaporean Minister for Foreign Affairs, George Yeo. In 2021, she co-founded the tech start-up, Supermomos where she is now the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).[1]

Edwina currently resides in the United States of America, where she lives and works between New York City and Boston.[1]

Edwina Yeo was born and raised in Singapore. She is the daughter of former Singaporean Minister of Foreign Affairs, George Yeo and lawyer Jennifer Long.[2] She also has three brothers. On 18 May 2024, Edwina got married to David Cheng, the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Arbor Biotechnologies.[3] She held two elaborate wedding ceremonies in Singapore and New York City, respectively.[4][5]

Education

When she lived in Singapore, Edwina studied at Raffles Girls’ School and Raffles Institution, before going on to pursue her university education in the US.[1] In 2012, she graduated from the Wharton School (University of Pennsylvania) with a dual degree in Business (Finance Concentration) and East Asian Languages and Civilisations.[1] Subsequently, she furthered her studies at Monash University, where she later obtained her Master of Counselling in 2018.[1]

Career

Edwina Yeo is the co-founder and CEO of tech start-up, Supermomos.[1] Throughout her career, she has also been involved in other businesses as a management consultant and financial adviser.[1]

The Boston Consulting Group (2012 to 2015)

Edwina joined The Boston Consulting Group as a Senior Associate, where she worked as a management consultant for MNCs in Southeast Asia.[1] She formulated go-to-market and internalisation strategies, as well as engaged in large program management for companies that were involved in technology and private equity.

Tiger Global Management (2015 to 2018)

Subsequently, Edwina worked in portfolio management under Tiger Global Management, an investment firm that worked with companies in the software, consumer, and payments industries.[1]

Tanglin Venture Partners (2018 to 2020)

In 2018, Edwina and Ravi Swaminathan co-founded Tanglin Venture Partners, a S$50 million venture capital firm that funded technology start-ups across Asia.[1] She took up the roles of Partner and Senior Advisor at the firm but left in 2020.

To date, Tanglin Venture Partners manages over S$250 million worth of assets and has invested in more than 20 portfolio companies across the fintech and supply chain sectors.[6]

Kauffman Fellows (2020 to Present)

Currently, Edwina is completing a two-year Kauffman Fellows Program.[1] She is mentored by GGV Capital’s managing partner, Jenny Lee and Matrix Partners China's founding managing partner, David Su.[7] This fellowship is known for being a prestigious networking and leadership development program for venture capitalists.

Supermomos (2021 to Present)

In 2021, Edwina co-founded the tech start-up Supermomos, together with developer Zheng Kaijong.[1] They currently hold the roles of CEO and CTO, respectively. Supermomos is currently based in New York City, building a name for itself as a networking platform for professionals spanning the technology, business, and finance sectors.[1]

Singapore wedding dinner attended by SM Lee Hsien Loong (2024)

On 18 May 2024, Edwina held a wedding dinner at the Hilton Hotel in Singapore, which gained public attention for the prominent Singaporean politicians in attendance.[4][5] Her father had been a well-known public servant, which explained the former and currently active officials that attended Edwina’s wedding celebrations. According to local media outlet MustShareNews, some of her most distinguished guests include:[4]

Edwina’s father, George Yeo took to Facebook to express his gratitude to the dinner’s attendees, as well as his well wishes to the bride and groom. He wrote, “David and Edwina, mum and I bless you in your holy union. May you be blessed with children and may your lives be a blessing to others.”[4]

Held second wedding dinner at a NYC restaurant with stunning views (2024)

On 23 June 2024, Edwina held another wedding dinner for her friends and family in the US, at the high-rise restaurant Manhatta.[5] It is owned by famous restaurateur Danny Meyer, who founded and owns several restaurants, including the successful fast-food chain Shake Shack.

While the Singapore celebrations seemed traditional and elaborate, this dinner was more casual and intimate and was thus held at the exclusive and high-end restaurant. Among the photos and videos that George Yeo posted on his Facebook page, it was evident that the guests were able to enjoy a clear view of the New York skyline, along with local wedding favours – Kaya in a jar.[5]
