DoctorxDentist started as an independent and unaffiliated blog in 2016 for medical professionals to provide educational articles and answer the health concerns posed by readers.[3][4] As of 2020, DxD has more than 500 accredited Singapore doctors and dentists listed on their website's directory. These medical professionals span across more than 40 specialities such as aesthetics, gynaecology, dentistry and dermatology.[5] Speaking to MONEYFM 89.3 in 2019, DxD's co-founder, Tristan Hahner said:

"On DoctorxDentist, they (the doctors) are answering questions from users and they are ensuring that all the information provided is correct and not unnecessarily worrying the patient... I want to clarify that DoctorxDentist is not a provider of telemedicine. So all the information on DoctorxDentist is still general and not a diagnosis."[6][7]

Reliable medical information

DxD is supported by an advisory board that provides input and feedback on the curation of medical questions, content strategy and legal matters.[8] According to the website, the former Chief Executive Officer of Gleneagles Hospital, Dr Vincent Chia,[9][10] sits on the board.[8] A medical review team at DxD provides input from the perspective of licensed medical specialists regarding the scope and depth of health-related content.[11] They also offer feedback to improve the services available on the platform.

Content overview

Members of the public can submit their questions through a form on the website.[12] The team at DxD curates the questions and the respective answers provided by doctors such that others with similar concerns can access these answers. Apart from being a medical Q&A platform, DxD also offers the following services.

Directory of medical professionals

DoctorxDentist has a collection of doctor profiles which include details such as the doctor’s background, the services they provide and their clinic information.[13] These efforts aim to match individuals with the right doctor to treat their conditions.

Webinars

DxD has also collaborated with medical professionals to conduct free webinars for the public. These webinars are recorded and published on their Facebook page for public viewing.[14] In May 2020, DoctorxDentist hosted a webinar on Facebook where they spoke with dentists from Q&M Dental about their experiences as medical front-liners during the COVID-19 pandemic in Singapore.[15] The webinar recording has over 6,000 views as of October 2020.

Informative articles

DxD has amassed a wide array of educational articles available for readers to browse for free. These articles are contributed and verified by doctors from the relevant medical fields. In October 2020, DoctorxDentist published a medically reviewed guide to LASIK procedures in Singapore.[16] The article included a breakdown of costs and other considerations such as choosing a suitable LASIK doctor.

YouTube videos

DxD also has a YouTube channel which has gained close to 750,000 views as of October 2020. The channel features short interviews with various medical professionals in Singapore[17] as well as informative videos about certain ailments. DxD's first video titled "DxD x Mizu Aesthetic Clinic — How To Get Glowing Skin In 5 Days" was uploaded in 2018.[18]
