Creamier (official website) is an ice cream café and F&B business founded in Singapore in 2011. It is recognised for being the pioneer of heartland cafes. Founded by the same people behind Sunday Folks, Creamier specialises in uniquely flavoured ice cream. They are also recognised for their hand-made waffles. Over the years, Creamier has expanded to three locations islandwide and collaborated with notable hotels and brands for events. In March 2019, it was announced that their first ever outlet at Toa Payoh would be closed by July 2019.

Origins

Creamier first opened in 2011 at Toa Payoh and is the pioneering brand for neighbourhood cafes locally. It was founded by Audrey Wang, Khoh Wan Chin and Victor Lim. Initially, Creamier had a slow start with labour, rental and equipment difficulties.[1] However, the store eventually became popular with the neighbourhood community and soon helped other businesses move into the same area.[2]

In 2014, the founders went on to create a second brand called Sunday Folks that specialises in freshly churned premium soft-serve ice cream.[3] Their first outlet opened at Chip Bee Gardens. As compared to Creamier's menu, Sunday Folks has a larger selection of desserts.

Growth in Singapore

Creamier opened their first outlet at Toa Payoh in 2011. They subsequently opened the outlets at Gillman Barracks in 2016 and Tiong Bahru in 2017.[4] In March 2019, it was announced that Creamier Toa Payoh would have its last day of operations on 30 June 2019. Creamier cited rental issues as the reason behind its closure at Toa Payoh.[5]

At the Toa Payoh and Gillman Barracks outlets, 18 ice cream flavours are displayed and available for purchase at one time. The Tiong Bahru outlet has 12 ice cream flavours on display. However, Creamier has a total of 118 flavours inspired by different places and food items. Creamier’s founders spent 6 months perfecting their classic ice cream flavours before exploring beyond the classics.[6] Their ice cream can be served in cups, cones or with freshly made waffles in store. The last order for waffles is approximately 30 to 45 minutes before the store's closing time for the day.

Their ice cream and handmade toppings are made from scratch every day.[7] Some of their most popular flavours for 2018 include Plain Ole Chocolate, Roasted Pistachio and Sea Salt Gula Melaka.[8] Creamier also creates and offers seasonal flavours such as Pistachio Rose and Blue Pea Vanilla that had only been available from February to March 2019 in commemoration of the Spring season.[9] To commemorate the closure of its Toa Payoh outlet, Creamier created a new White Rabbit candy flavour - a taste that is recognised by most Singaporeans.[10]

Apart from ice cream, Creamier also sells coffee products, ice cream cakes and retail items such as cups and mugs.[11] As of May 2019, Creamier sells two ice cream cakes - Azelia Passion Ice Cream Cake and Yuzu Ichigo Ice Cream Cake - both priced at S$58 each. Their online store features a limited selection of ice cream flavours that are available for delivery in 473ml pints that can contain up to 5 scoops of ice cream.[12]
