COLLIN'S (Singapore Restaurant)
COLLIN'S is a Singaporean food franchise known for serving affordable Western cuisine. COLLIN'S first operated through self-service food kiosks in hawker centres before opening full-service restaurants over the years. In 2017, COLLIN'S was a recipient of two awards at the Singapore Prestige Brand Awards (SPBA) - the Promising Brands award and Most Popular Promising Brand award. A year later, it won the Established Brands award[1][2] and the Singapore Enterprise 50 Award.[3] Apart from its growth in Singapore, COLLIN'S has expanded to three countries outside of Singapore as of 2020.
Background
Founder & origins
COLLIN'S was founded in 2012 by Chef Collin Ho.[4] Working on a S$70,000 investment,[5] Collin Ho opened the first COLLIN'S food stall in a coffee shop at Geylang.[4] Before founding his eponymous brand, Collin had over 20 years of experience cooking for restaurants and hotels.[6] Born in 1976, Collin Ho first picked up his cooking skills at 14 years old from his grandmother[7] and was an army chef during his National Service.[8] As of 2020, he is the Chief Executive Officer of SF Group Limited, the investment holding company that manages the COLLIN'S franchise.[9]
Business expansion
COLLIN'S reportedly earned an annual revenue of $25 million within five years of its founding.[10] COLLIN's has also initiated a community outreach programme called Kids Club by COLLIN'S where they organise cooking and baking workshops for children.[11]
Local expansion
By 2017, it was reported that COLLIN'S had expanded to 19 outlets across Singapore.[12] In 2019, COLLIN'S opened Elfuego by COLLIN's, a Halal-certified 80-seater restaurant located at Jewel Changi Airport that serves Western food.[13][14] El Fuego is a collaborative project between COLLIN'S founder, Chef Collin Ho and Chef Edmund Toh who is the president of the Singapore Chefs' Association.[15] As of 2020, there are over 20 COLLIN'S outlets across Singapore;[16] 10 of which are restaurants.[17][18] Apart from having full-service restaurants located malls such as PLQ Mall, Funan and Westgate,[19] COLLIN's also operates in coffee shops located in the heartlands of Singapore.[20][21]
Overseas expansion
COLLIN's first expanded overseas in 2018 with a branch in Jakarta, Indonesia. In 2019, COLLIN's opened its flagship restaurant in Cambodia; a 310-seater sky bar.[22] That same year, COLLIN'S opened its second outlet in Jakarta, Indonesia;[23] a two-storey restaurant that has a 200-seater capacity.[24] As of 2020, COLLIN'S has four overseas outlets. The following is a timeline of its overseas business expansion.
