Background
Jade is forthcoming about her experiences with typically contentious issues. In a 2018 episode of Real Talk titled 'Plastic Surgery', she shared that she had done breast augmentation surgery to increase her cup size from 30C to E as well as a permanent rhinoplasty that cost her S$10,000.[1]
Early life & family
Jade Rasif was born on 21 January 1994 to David Rasif and Joyce Fong. Jade's biological father is an ex-lawyer and a fugitive wanted by Singapore. He left the family in 2006 when he absconded with S$11.3 million of his client’s money.[2] Growing up, Jade had also been diagnosed with dyslexia.[3] The eldest of three siblings, Jade has two younger sisters - Tyen Rasif and Khym Fong.
Education
Jade went to CHIJ Toa Payoh Primary School and subsequently, Saint Joseph’s Institution International (SJII) school. She completed her pre-university studies at Catholic Junior College (CJC) where she scored five distinctions in her GCE 'A' Level examinations. Jade furthered her studies at the National University of Singapore (NUS), graduating with a degree in Psychology.
Pregnancy
Jade revealed her pregnancy in November 2018 on ‘The Cauliflower Episode’ of Real Talk. At the time of the announcement, she was more than seven months pregnant despite her unnoticeable baby bump.[4] Jade shared that her sister, Tyen Rasif helped her to maintain her figure with a suitable training plan.[5][6] Jade gave birth to a baby boy later that year, although the details of her delivery and the identity of her son's father has been kept secret.[7]
Music
As of 2019, Jade is signed to Altra Management. She plays at Singapore clubs like Baliza as well as overseas clubs such as Aruku in Malaysia and Titanium Club in Indonesia.[8] As a DJ in Singapore, she reportedly earns up to S$1,000 for a one hour set.[9] She has DJ-ed in local clubs such as Zouk, F. Club and Get Juiced as well as abroad in Jakarta and Bangkok.
DJ (2014 - Present)
In 2018, Jade played at AVRY Singapore as part of the Ultra Singapore Countdown Party. In the same year, she hosted the radio show “Unite with Tomorrowland On Air” with Flaremode on Billboard Radio China.[10] She was also ranked 28th in South East Asia and 1st in Singapore by DJANE MAG.[11] Additionally, Jade Rasif was the opening act for British artiste Iyaz when he performed at Get Juiced Singapore in April 2019.[12] Jade Rasif has also appeared on EDMdroid's Asia's Top 10 Hottest Female DJs list consecutively for four years since 2016.[13]
Other endeavours
Millennials of Singapore - Host (2018)
Jade Rasif co-stars in a YouTube talk show by Millennials of Singapore with 3 other personalities - Jonathan Chua, Dew and Saffron Sharpe. The show occasionally features guest stars. ‘Real Talk’ covers issues ranging from smoking to unplanned pregnancy. In the show, the four hosts discuss these issues while providing their opinions and personal anecdotes.
Tanglin - Cast (2015 - 2018)
Jade Rasif acted in local TV Show ‘Tanglin’ as Sheila Oh for Seasons 1 to 3. Tanglin is a local TV show produced by Mediacorp about multi-racial and multi-generational families.
TNP New Face - Finalist (2013)
Jade Rasif participated in and won first runner up for The New Paper New Face competition (official website) in 2013.[14] She was also conferred Subaru’s Miss Vivacious Subsidiary Award.[15] TNP New Face is an annual beauty pageant organised by The New Paper and presented by Subaru. Winners of the competition are awarded up to S$10,000 in cash.[16] Before the competition, Jade was insecure about her height and altered her diet to achieve a slimmer look so that she could appear taller.[17] However, she felt that she was never penalized for her height during the competition and instead, had gained confidence while learning from her other competitors.[18] After the competition, she went on to further her career in modelling but eventually did not continue due to the judgements about her height she had faced during castings.[19] Subsequently, as an alumnus of New Face, she was part of the judging panel for TNP New Paper New Face in 2017.
Newsworthy incidents
Zouk and DJ Marshmello (2016)
In 2016, a dispute between Jade and her former resident club, Zouk, had arisen due to a misunderstanding during an Ultra Singapore after party. Jade had called out Zouk on social media about a DJ Marshmello imposter at the event that she believed Zouk had knowingly cheated their audience with. However, after a statement released by Zouk, it was clear that the person who had allegedly dressed up as DJ Marshmello was actually a club goer and was not condoned by Zouk. As a result, Jade had been dismissed from her residency at Zouk.[20]
