This entry applies to Secondary 4 Joint Admissions Entry (JAE) students from MOE-registered schools. It outlines the academic requirements for students aiming to enter National Junior College (NJC).

The following table shows the net aggregate GCE O-level cut-off points of students admitted in AY2019. This should be used as a reference for the cut-off points for AY2020.

National Junior College requires students to fulfil at least 10 Academic Units.

Students who scored a minimum D7 grade for Higher Mother Tongue will be automatically accredited 1 Academic Unit for Mother Tongue without having to take the subject. Students may also take H2 KI in replacement of GP.

NJC offers the following languages under the Language Elective Programme (LEP). The table shows the minimum grade needed to qualify for each language elective.

H2 Subjects requiring placement test

Students are required to sit for a placement test and/or audition if they are interested in taking the following subjects.

  • Knowledge & Inquiry (KI)
  • Art. NJC offers the Art Elective Programme (AEP) for students interested in studying art at the pre-university level. Students are required to take the subject at both H2 and H3 level.
  • Music
  • English Language & Linguistics (ELL)
  • Further Mathematics (FM)
  • Computing

H3 Subjects

For NJC students interested in taking H3 level subjects, they must have already taken the respective H2 level subjects to be considered. Students are allowed a maximum of two H3 level subjects .

Special programmes & scholarships

The following programmes and scholarships are offered to Singaporean Citizens admitted into HCI. Students have to meet the following prerequisites to qualify.

Humanities Scholarship & Programme (HSP)

NJC offers the HSP to students who have a deep interest in studying humanities at the pre-university level.

The HSP is also offered at Anglo-Chinese JC, Anglo-Chinese School (Independent), Eunoia JC, Raffles Institution, Hwa Chong Institution, Temasek JC and Victoria JC.
