Rosalyn Lee

Rosalyn Lee (born 20 June 1979), also known as Rozz, is a Singaporean host and entertainer. During her time at 987FM as a radio presenter, Rosalyn mentored Sonia Chew to win the 987 Radio Star competition. After a 14-year career as a radio presenter, Rosalyn left the profession.[1] As of July 2019, Rosalyn has her own segment titled 'Rozz Recommends' on the Clicknetwork YouTube channel.

Early life & family

Rosalyn was single-handedly raised by her mother after her father left the family when she was 11 years old. Rosalyn, her younger brother Ryan and her mother then moved in with a relative who lived in a three-room HDB flat. In a 2014 interview with The New Paper, she shared that her mother worked hard to support the family.[2]


When Rosalyn was 15 years old, her mother contracted breast cancer and passed away ten years later.[3] At 21 years old, Rosalyn legally changed her surname from Oliveiro to her mother's surname, Lee.[4]

Early career

Before she was a radio presenter, Rosalyn pursued dancing professionally.[5] She started ballet lessons at 3 years old[6] and in her teenage years, she joined the People’s Association Modern Dance Group.[7] In 2015, Rosalyn was the resident judge for the Channel 5 TV show, 'The Dance Floor 2015.[8] Rosalyn was a First Sergeant in the SAF Music and Drama Company before starting her professional career in radio.[9][10]

Personal advocacy

In 2008, Rosalyn discovered that she had second stage pre-cervical cancer. She made a full recovery and was an ambassador of the Power Over Cervical Cancer campaign in Singapore.[11] In 2013, Rosalyn appeared in a cervical cancer advertisement that urged Singaporean women to go for Pap smear screenings.[12] In 2009, she also became an ambassador for Pink Dot.[13][14]

Radio (2003 - 2017)

Rosalyn was a radio presenter for established radio stations in Singapore such as SAFRA Radio’s Power 98FM, Mediacorp’s 987FM and Lush 99.5FM.[15][16] After 8 years at 987FM, Rosalyn moved to Lush 99.5FM in 2014.[17] Featuring indie and local music, Lush 99.5FM was the champion of Singapore's alternative scene and subculture.

At Lush, Rosalyn hosted her first-ever solo show called 'The Evening Lush'.[18] Due to a relatively low volume of listeners, the radio station's last broadcast was on 31 August 2017. Rosalyn announced that she would wrap up her radio career alongside Lush 99.5FM.[19]

Television

In 2015, Rosalyn was cast as one of the main characters for Mediacorp's Channel 5 drama series, 'Premonition'. In the show, she acts as a police officer who struggles with the professional implications of have a corrupt policeman for a father. Rosalyn's role in 'Premonition' was her first acting gig. The show was a six-part drama series and premiered in July 2015.

Rosalyn is the host of her own segment, 'Rozz Recommends', on . The segment's first video was published in June 2016 and has three seasons as of July 2019. Seasons 2 and 3 of 'Rozz Recommends' features her travels to unconventional destinations. Season 2 started in conjunction with Rozz's decision to quit her radio job.[22] She has travelled to countries like Peru, Cuba and the North Pole.

In 2011, Rosalyn collaborated with Kiss 92FM radio host, Shan Wee to create a Clicknetwork segment titled 'The Shan and Rozz Show'. The segment features individuals with uncommon occupations and unique talents. The segment lasted 14 episodes and the last episode aired on 26 May 2011.[27] In 2006, Rosalyn co-hosted Girls Out Loud with Xia Xue (Wendy Cheng).[28]
