Nadiah M. Din

Nadiah M. Din (born 17 January 1990) is a Singaporean actress and host. She is a familiar figure in the local entertainment scene, having been cast in both local and international films like Baby Bumps (2016) and Le Badanti (2015) respectively. As of March 2020, Nadiah has over 4,000 followers on Facebook and over 160,000 followers on Instagram.

Early life & family

Born on 17 January 1990 to Hamidah Jalil and artist Mohammad Din Mohammad,[1] Nadiah spent her childhood surrounded by art, theatre and music. Until his death in 2007,[2] Nadiah’s father was a painter who had also been actively involved in other artistic practices.[3] She has a positive relationship with her parents, citing them as her role models and inspiration.[4]

Education

After completing her O-levels at Tanglin Secondary School, Nadia furthered her education at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) in 2008.[5] Three years later, she graduated with a Diploma in Acting.[6] Since then, Nadiah has been in over 40 local and overseas productions, gaining a reputation as a versatile actress.

Marriage to Bilal Jeanpierre (2016)

Nadiah first met her husband, Guillaume (now Bilal) Jeanpierre, at a dinner party. At the time, the French national had been living in Singapore since 2009. She described that it had been “love at first sight”.[7] In October 2015, Guillaume converted to Islam and changed his name to Bilal - which means purity and water in Arabic.[8] On 14 August 2016, the couple held their solemnisation ceremony at The Colonial@Scotts.[9]

Children

As of March 2020, the couple has two children - a son named Nahyan (b. 2017) and a daughter named Inaaya (b. 2019).[10]

Since graduating from NAFA, Nadiah has acted in many local and overseas productions. She had the opportunity to star alongside Italian actors Anna Jimskaya and Samantha Castillo. Nadiah has also scored roles in popular local productions like Mata-Mata and Code of Law.[11]

Newsworthy incidents

Fundraiser for Orchard Towers murder victim (2019)

On 4 July 2019, Nadiah uploaded a 12-minute video on Instagram in response to the fatal slashing incident at Orchard Towers. In the video, Nadiah explained that she had been good friends with the victim, Satheesh Noel Gobidass, since secondary school. She urged her followers to help raise funds for Satheesh’s widow and his two children aged ten and four years old. Nadiah and her followers had managed to raise $3,435.84 for the victim's family.[45] Satheesh Noel Gobidass, 31, was pronounced dead in Tan Tock Seng Hospital after suffering a stab wound to his neck.[46]
