Michelle Tan

Michelle Tan (born 15 March 1993) is a Singaporean beauty and fitness influencer. A former actress and host at Night Owl Cinematics (NOC), Michelle was also the winner of the FHM Models competition in 2013. As of May 2020, she has over 152,000 followers on Instagram.

Background

Early life & family

As a teenager in secondary school, Michelle juggled three co-curricular activities; dance, netball and track and field.[1] She represented her school at the national Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) competition, playing the role of Alice in her dance troupe's rendition of Alice in Wonderland.[2]

Education

Michelle completed her formative education at Yishun Primary School and Ahmad Ibrahim Secondary School.[3] She was a student at Anderson Junior College for a year before transferring to Singapore Polytechnic (SP).[4] She graduated from SP in 2014 with a Diploma in Hotel & Leisure Facilities Management.[5] Michelle furthered her studies at Singapore Institute of Management under the University of London programme. She graduated in 2018 with second-class honours in Business and Management.[6][7]

Michelle spoke out about model safety in the industry following her success at FHM Models 2013. In a statement to The New Paper that was published in January 2014, she says:

"Young girls should also know that they don't have to do lingerie shoots to become a famous model. It's not necessary."[8]

Michelle was invited to the FHM Models 2014 finale on 21 June 2014 to crown the new winner of the competition.[9]

FHM Models 2013 - Winner

Michelle was twenty years old when she was crowned the winner of the FHM Cover Model Search in 2013.[10][11] She was also awarded the Miss Curvaceous subsidiary title.[12] On top of being the covergirl[13] for the August issue that year, Michelle was featured in a six-page spread.[14] She was also given a one-year contract with DIVA Models.[15]

Michelle was a talent with NOC from 2014 to 2017 during which she engaged in acting and hosting work. She made her debut appearance on 2 November 2014 in a video titled ‘Shit Directors Say’. Her last appearance on NOC's YouTube channel was in 'How To Write A Good Resume???' which was uploaded on 18 November 2017.

Influencer

Mirchelley - Content creator (2019 - present)

According to YouTube, Michelle's channel had been created in November 2017.[18] However, she only started actively uploading videos in 2019. Michelle produces lifestyle content with a focus on beauty and fitness. Her first video, a festival make-up tutorial - was published on 7 June 2019.[19] As of June 2020, she has over 1,000 subscribers.

Brand representation

In 2019, Michelle worked with the skincare brand, Mentholatum Acnes Singapore.[20] She was a part of the brand’s #MyAcnesJourney campaign.[21]
