Desmond Tan Kok Ming (born 1970) was the Chief Executive Director at People's Association (PA).[1] In June 2020, he was announced as a People's Action Party (PAP) candidate for the 2020 General Elections and is contesting in Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC.[2]

Desmond Tan joined the People's Association in 2017 and stepped down in early June 2020.[3] He previously worked with the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) for 28 years,[4] having held numerous appointments in the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) and SAF.[5]

Desmond Tan was born in 1970 to a father who worked as a taxi driver and mother who was an odd-job worker.[6] He has three siblings and grew up in a three-room flat in Bukit Ho Swee.[7] As of 2020, he is married with three children.[8]

Desmond Tan was a student at Queenstown Secondary Technical School before joining Raffles Junior College.
