Personal life

The video in which Chow shares about her tattoos. Photo from YouTube.

Chow describes herself as an extroverted person with occasional introverted tendencies.[4] She owns a cat, Manis, who she occasionally features on her Instagram and YouTube channel.[5] She also has various animal tattoos on her torso, including one of Manis and Totto; a Jack Russell Terrier that she owned when she was younger.[6] She spoke about him in her YouTube video, saying:

“So this is a pet dog that I had when I was a child, I was about maybe eight or nine years old. He was a Jack Russell, his name was Totto and he left our family, he ran away. It was the first time in my life that I felt this very heavy sense of loss and I think that was quite a turning point for me, at least emotionally. So I wanted to have this (Totto’s portrait) imprinted on my skin and to have that feeling encapsulated there.”[7]

Education

From 2009 to 2012, Chow Jia Hui studied at Singapore Chinese Girls’ School, where she completed her GCE Ordinary (‘O’) Levels. She then studied in Nanyang Junior College from 2013 to 2014, taking her GCE Advanced (‘A’) Levels and graduating with a score of 86.25 out of 90 total points.[8]

Tertiary education

Chow furthered her studies at the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2015. During her university exchange programme, she studied at the Kenan-Flagler Business School in North Carolina in America for a semester.[9] Chow was an orientation group leader during her time in NUS, taking charge of new students during their Orientation Week and managing their activities and interactions. She was also a resident of Kent Ridge Hall and helped organise its annual Culture Night, an entertainment event where NUS students got together to perform and socialise.[10][11] She graduated from NUS in 2019 with a Bachelor of Business Administration with Honours from the School of Business.[12]

Internships

From February 2015 to January 2017, while pursuing her university studies, Chow Jia Hui worked as a project manager at Two Musketeers, a Singaporean events services start-up that creates customised photo booth set-ups to suit their clients' needs.[13] She liaised with clients to meet sales targets and manage their partnerships, as well as managed logistics to ensure efficient project executions.[14] Chow spoke about how the experience shaped her for the future, saying:

“With the photography company... I ended up doing project management for them as well, I learnt so much. This job is honestly one of the biggest reasons why I am the way I am today, I would say. Because it put me in so many challenging situations that I had to learn and navigate around.”[15]
