Early life & family

Calista Cuaca was born in December 1998 to Jamie Chua and the business tycoon, Nurdian Cuaca who have since separated. Calista and Jamie occasionally make YouTube videos together that showcase their close mother-daughter relationship.[2][3][4][5] When Calista was nine years old, Jamie bought a heart-shaped solitaire pendant and matching ring amounting to $300,000 for her daughter’s future wedding.[6] In 2019, the mother-daughter pair wore matching dresses for a photo shoot along Orchard Road to commemorate Calista’s 21st birthday.[7] In an interview with Vestiaire Collective, Calista shared that:

"My mother and I have very different tastes when it comes to fashion. When I was a kid my mom would always make me wear these frilly dresses which I absolutely disliked. I explored fashion on my own over the years as well as through my circle of friends, and developed my androgynous style of dressing that I am most comfortable with."[8]

Calista also has an older brother named Cleveland.[9]

Education

Calista Cuaca was a student at ISS International School where she graduated with an International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma in 2016.[10] She then furthered her studies at James Cook University where she studied marketing.[11] Calista has also taken a one-month fashion styling course at Istituto Marangoni in London.[1]

According to a 2015 feature article by Vulcan Post, Calista Cuaca had about 21,000 Instagram followers at the time.[12] By 2020, her following had multiplied by over ten times.
