Background

Although born in Singapore, Andrew spent a significant portion of his childhood in Hong Kong. At the age of 18, he returned to Singapore to complete his statutory National Service, pursue tertiary education, and begin his professional career.

Career and education

He served as an Infantry Specialist during his National Service before working as a part-time associate with PLUM for five months. He later took on a three-month summer internship with Zung Fu Company Ltd., followed by a nine-month business development internship at Shopee, before eventually joining Keppel Ltd.

Andrew has been in his role as Key Account Manager at Keppel for approximately two years, having decided to join the company soon after completing university. His professional background includes experience in key account management within Keppel's operations.

Andrew served in roles related to account management—potentially including Deputy Manager, Key Accounts at Keppel Data Centres—and states that his education is from the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS).

Prior to being named contingent commander in 2025, Andrew served as deputy contingent commander during the NDP 2024. Role in the National Day Parade 2025

In National Day Parade (NDP) 2025, Andrew gained nationwide attention when netizens affectionately dubbed him the “handsome Keppel guy.” A TikTok video showcasing him leading the Keppel contingent at the Parade went viral, amassing over 150,000 views. The clip prompted comments like “Good looking guy!”, and he was even referred to as a “national treasure” and “internet boyfriend.” His partner, Lauren Alexandra Wong, was also pleasantly surprised by how his social media video went viral.

Andrew was chosen to serve as contingent commander for the Keppel contingent in NDP 2025. His involvement in the Parade began earlier, having served as deputy contingent commander in NDP 2024. He was invited to assume the commander role in early 2024. To prepare for this position, his team trained intensively, starting in May 2025, for 14 consecutive Saturdays under the sun, perfecting their drills ahead of the main event.

In leading a 36-member team onto the Padang, Andrew described the experience as “unforgettable” and said it filled him with pride. He viewed the role not just as a leadership opportunity but also an occasion to forge relationships with colleagues from different divisions—an experience made more meaningful through camaraderie, shared meals, conversations, and games during breaks from training.
