Caydences, real name Cavin Chua Kar Shin (born 2000), is a rising Singaporean TikTok content creator. He is known for filming comedy skits, POV videos, and pet content on TikTok. As of August 2025, Cavin has amassed over 1.5 million followers on TikTok and 1.2 million followers on Instagram.[1][2]

Early Life

Cavin has been candid about his difficult upbringing. He is the youngest child in his household, which often saw frequent arguments between his parents. He frequently found himself caught in the middle of these disputes. One memory that stuck with him was when his father, whom Cavin described as a compulsive liar and cheater, threw hangers at his mother. The situation escalated to the point where his grandmother threatened to harm herself.[3]

Cavin’s creative journey began early. He revealed that he had been editing YouTube videos as far back as his primary school years.[4]

Career as an influencer

While studying communications and new media at NUS during the COVID-19 pandemic, Cavin took advantage of TikTok’s accessibility to showcase his dance skits and comedic storytelling, which quickly helped him gain traction.[3]

Over just a couple of years, his follower count climbed into the hundreds of thousands. In 2025, he reached one million followers on his TikTok account, @cayydences.[2]

In the podcast R U Okay? and several other interviews, Cavin revealed that creating content gave him an emotional and creative escape. He shared that it helped him process his troubled childhood, offering both a way to heal and a platform to tell his story.[3]

Cavin has openly shared that his fame follows him offline as well. He mentioned wearing disguises such as caps or sunglasses, though people would still recognise him when he is out in public. At times, he has felt the need to stay home to avoid being chased or stalked.[3]

Most viral TikTok videos

Cavin’s most viral video on Tiktok, which received over 15.4 million views and 3.2 million likes, features him and a friend acting out a scenario where two friends are out, but only one of them gets a drink.[5]

In a separate short video, he explains that when a “baddie” (a term used by Gen Z to describe strong, independent and beautiful women) stops embodying the “baddie” persona in a relationship, it is a sign that the man involved may not be the right fit for her and that the relationship itself is likely not suitable. This video garnered over 13 million views and 2.9 million likes. Even the original Youtube account on Tiktok left a comment under his post.[6]

In another video, which garnered 11 million views and 1.4 million likes, he expresses with exaggerated movements that no matter what he does, he remains tired, and he is “tired of being tired.” Many viewers in the comments section expressed their relatability to his sentiments.[7]
