Vanessa Vanderstraaten (born 24 July 1988) is born and bred in Singapore.[1] Vanessa is currently signed under Fly Entertainment, a Singapore artiste management company. She is known for her works in Marco Polo produced by Netflix in 2014 and her lead role in Lion Moms by Mediacorp in 2015.[1]

Personal life
Vanessa Vanderstraaten is the older of the two siblings in the Vanderstraaten family. Her brother Justin Vanderstraaten was known for being in a relationship with Singaporean actress and host Rosalyn Lee for about two years.[2] Her father is James Vanderstraaten and her step-mother is Judy Goh.[3]
Education
Vanessa graduated from NTU in 2011 where she majored in English Literature and minored in Drama and Performance.[1]
Career
Theatre Works (2010 - 2012)
Vanessa joined Singapore Repertory Theatre's Young Company in 2010, training under Daniel Jenkins for two years.[1] Some of her works include Love & Other Oddities under Theatre Lab Productions and Grimm Tales under Singapore Repertory Theatre.[1]
Actress & Screenwriter (2012- Present)
Vanessa gained recognition in the local acting scene in 2013 with Ken Kwek’s movie Sex.Violence.Family Values.[1] Some of her more recognised works are her role in the first season of Netflix’s Marco Polo in 2014, as well as her recurring role across the seasons of Lion Mum produced by Mediacorp.[1] She was involved in screenwriting.[4]Some of her screenwriting credits include Lion Mums 4, S.P.Y. and After Dark.[4] Vanessa has also worked with brands such as Vichy, Sephora and Marina Bay Sands as a host. Nightjar Films (2022 - Present)
Vanessa co-founded Nightjar Films, a film production company in 2022 alongside Yeo Lay Har, an executive producer and director with over 20 years of experience and Jason Godfrey, an experienced screenwriter of 7 years.[6] They were one of the top 5 finalists for Mediacorp’s Creative Assembly 2022.[7]
