Tiffanie Lim & Michy Lim (TiffwithMi)

TiffwithMi is a Singaporean duo comprising of the YouTubers Tiffanie Lim (born 13 April 2001) and Michy Lim (born 28 September 1997).[1] The sisters are collectively known as TiffwithMi to their 590,000 subscribers (as of May 2020) on YouTube where they create Mandarin lifestyle videos. As of May 2020, the TiffwithMi Facebook page has over 70,000 likes. On Instagram, Michy and Tiffanie have over 219,000 followers each.

Background

Michy and Tiffanie were born and raised in Singapore.[2] According to the sisters, they would have taken over their family’s business if they had not become full-time YouTubers.[3]

Tiffanie Lim (林雪琪)

Born on 13 April 2001, Tiffanie is the younger of the pair.[4][5][6] In a 2019 video, Tiffanie revealed that she had scored 228 for her Primary School Leaving Examinations (PSLE).[7] Tiffanie aspired to be a YouTuber after drawing inspiration from creators like Bubzbeauty and Wongfu Productions.[8]

Born on 28 September 1997, Michy is four years older than Tiffanie.[9][10] Michy's PSLE score was 241 out of 300.[11] She had aspired to be an actress before pursuing a YouTube career with her sister.[12]

TiffwithMi - Content creators (2015 - present day)

The TiffwithMi YouTube channel was created on 8 June 2015 and their first video titled "Singapore Bugis Street Haul Under $100" was uploaded three days later.[13] By December 2019, the channel had grown to over 529,000 subscribers.[14] This was an approximately four-fold increase from December 2018, when the channel had over 127,000 subscribers.[15] As of May 2020, their most viewed video titled “I Ignored My Sister for 24 Hours and She TOOK A KNIFE… [Challenge Gone Wrong]“ has accumulated over 2.4 million views.[16]

As of May 2020, the duo uploads one video a week on YouTube, reportedly taking a week to produce one video.[17][18] In 2015, Michy and Tiffanie kickstarted their channel with shopping-haul videos,[19] product reviews[20] and unboxing videos of their orders from the Chinese shopping website, Taobao.[21] In 2018, the girls transitioned to producing Mandarin videos intending to promote the use of mother tongue in Singapore.[22][23] At the same time, they diversified their content to include vlogs and prank videos. They also incorporate English subtitles in all their videos.[24]
