Wan Rizal Wan Zakariah (Singapore Politician)
Wan Rizal Wan Zakariah (born 1978) is a senior lecturer at Republic Polytechnic and the former chairman of Al-Islah mosque in Punggol.[1] In June 2020, he was announced as a People's Action Party (PAP) candidate in the 2020 General Elections.[2]

Background
Wan Rizal is a senior lecturer at Republic Polytechnic's School of Sports, Health and Leisure.[3] Before obtaining a Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) in Sports Science, he was a physical education teacher at Hougang Primary School.[4]
Family
As of June 2020, Wan Rizal is married with four children.[5]
Education
In secondary school, Wan Rizal was a student in the Normal Academic stream.[6] He then enrolled in Temasek Polytechnic, obtaining a diploma before joining the National Institute of Education (NIE).[7] He graduated from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) with a degree in physical education in 2009.[8] In 2015, Wan Rizal obtained a Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) in Sports Science from the university.[9] He started his PhD studies as a part-time Masters degree student in 2009 before converting to a full-time PhD student in 2010.[10]
Grassroots involvement
Wan Rizal has been involved in community work since 2010 when he was appointed as the chairman of the mosque building committee for Al-Islah mosque.[11] Apart from that, he has also been involved in Punggol's Interracial and Religious Confidence Circle (IRCC).[12]
