Early Life and career
Born in South Korea, Jang moved to Singapore in 2015 with the initial intention of staying for just one year. He began his career in the hospitality industry by working in a hotel. However, his interest shifted towards bartending, leading him to join the now-defunct Orgo Bar. Despite limited English skills and no prior bartending experience, Jang's passion for the craft and dedication to learning propelled his career forward.[1]
Jang attributes his success to the guidance and mentorship he received early in his career. He emphasizes the importance of attitude, responsibility, and presence behind the bar, values instilled in him by his mentors. Career at Jigger & Pony Group
In 2017, Jang joined Jigger & Pony, a flagship bar under the Jigger & Pony Group. Over the years, he played a pivotal role in the bar's ascent, contributing to its recognition among Asia's top bars. His innovative cocktail programs and emphasis on guest-centric service have been instrumental in shaping the bar's identity.[2] In 2024, Jang was appointed as the Creative Director of Jigger & Pony Group. In this capacity, he oversees the beverage programs across the group's establishments, ensuring consistency and innovation in their offerings. Jang's contributions to the bartending industry were globally acknowledged when he won the Altos Bartenders' Bartender Award at The World's 50 Best Bars 2025.
