Eswari Gunasagar (born 6 February 1990) is a Singaporean actress and host.[1][2] In 2011, she was a finalist in the beauty pageant, Miss Vasantham.[3][4][5] As an artist managed by Mediacorp, Eswari has appeared on both Vasantham and Channel 5. She is also the co-founder of the eco-brand, Haus Of Green.[6] As of June 2020, Eswari has over 106,000 followers on Instagram and over 12,000 followers on Twitter.
Background
Early life & family
Eswari is the second-youngest of four siblings.[7] One of her siblings is the Oli 96.8FM radio presenter, Shamini Gunasagar.[8][9] When Eswari was a teenager, she aspired to be a police officer.[10][11]
Education
Eswari was from Assumption English Secondary School. After completing her GCE 'O' Level examinations, she enrolled in Nanyang Polytechnic. Eswari furthered her studies at the University of Stirling and graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Business Marketing.[12] From 2018 to 2019, she pursued a Masters Degree in Mass Communications at Nanyang Technological University (NTU).[13][14][15]
Miss Vasantham - Finalist (2011)
Eswari participated in the Miss Vasantham beauty pageant when she was 21 years old.[16] At the time, she was a final year undergraduate student in university. Eswari passed the auditions and eventually made it as a finalist.[17][18]
Show business
Following her success in Miss Vasantham, Eswari received a casting call from the producers of Vettai, a Tamil drama series.[19] Despite having applied to the Singapore Police Force (SPF) at the time, Eswari chose a career in acting.[20]
In 2015, she debuted on Channel 5 as Shruti Bhaskar in the long-running television series, Tanglin.[21] In 2018, Eswari took a year-long break from the media industry to further her studies.[22] She returned to acting in early 2020.[23]

Entrepreneurship
House of Green - Co-founder (2019 - present day)
In September 2019, Eswari and Sherly Devonne Ng founded Haus Of Green, a start-up that distributes eco-friendly alternatives to plastics.[50][51][52] The brand launched its first product, Grassias on 3 October 2019.[53] Grassias are grass straws that can be repurposed as fertiliser after use.[54] The straws are manufactured by a farmers' community in Vietnam. A portion of the profit is given back to this community.[55] Haus Of Green has been distributing its grass straws to local restaurants.[56]
