Wan Rizal Wan Zakariah (born 1978) is a senior lecturer at Republic Polytechnic and the former chairman of Al-Islah mosque in Punggol.[1] In June 2020, he was announced as a People's Action Party (PAP) candidate in the 2020 General Elections.[2]

Background

Wan Rizal is a senior lecturer at Republic Polytechnic's School of Sports, Health and Leisure.[3] Before obtaining a Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) in Sports Science, he was a physical education teacher at Hougang Primary School.[4]

Education

In secondary school, Wan Rizal was a student in the Normal Academic stream.[5] He then enrolled in Temasek Polytechnic, obtaining a diploma before joining the National Institute of Education (NIE).[6] He graduated from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) with a degree in physical education in 2009.[7] In 2015, Wan Rizal obtained a Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) in Sports Science from the university.[8] He started his PhD studies as a part-time Masters degree student in 2009 before converting to a full-time PhD student in 2010.[9]
