Impossible Marketing is a prominent, multi-award winning digital marketing agency based in Singapore, founded in 2012 by Alan Koh, a former banker who transitioned into entrepreneurship.[1] The agency specialises in a hyperlocal marketing approach and has gained recognition for its innovative approach to online marketing, having served over 2,000 clients.[2]

Some of these clients include notable brands such as Singtel, iShopChangi, SuperDry, SK Jewellery, Suntec City, LHN Group, Polar Puff and Cakes, Chagee and Museum of Ice Cream, amongst others.[3]

Impossible Marketing specialises in a range of lead generation services, mainly Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Search Engine Marketing (SEM) and Social Media Marketing (SMM).

Origins and founding philosophy

Koh started his career as a banker and during his time in the banking sector, he achieved notable success, earning 8 industry awards over 4 years. However, he decided to leave the financial industry in 2009 to pursue his entrepreneurial ambitions. Koh’s foray into entrepreneurship began with significant challenges; after experiencing 11 business failures and losing over 90% of his savings. In his LinkedIn profile, Koh muses about his struggles as an entrepreneur and having trouble forking out money to pay for his monthly coworking desk fee.[4]

In 2012, he founded Impossible Marketing with the mantra 'Im Possible,' reflecting his resilience and unwavering commitment in the face of obstacles. After experiencing multiple business failures, he recognised that a consistent flow of cost-effective leads and new customers was crucial for success. This realisation motivated him to delve into the complexities of SEO, mastering it to overcome the challenges he faced. At the outset, Impossible Marketing concentrated on offering SEO training programs to help individuals and businesses navigate the complexities of search engine optimisation.[5]

As demand for comprehensive digital marketing support grew, the agency expanded its services in 2016. This expansion led to the formation of Impossible Marketing Services Pte Ltd, a subsidiary focused on providing a full suite of digital marketing solutions for businesses looking to boost their digital presence and get more leads online.[1][5]

Corporate Social Responsibility

In 2015, Koh launched Project KATE, a corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative through Impossible Marketing. As an only child raised by a single parent, Koh experienced modest beginnings and learned the value of giving back from a young age. His mother, a cashier for over 30 years, instilled in him the importance of helping those in need.

Inspired by his upbringing, Project KATE aims to support underprivileged individuals and charitable organisations by leveraging digital marketing tools and strategies to create a positive impact in their communities.[4][10][11]

Project KATE focuses on four key areas:

  • Knowledge, providing free digital marketing training to charities and underprivileged individuals
  • Awareness, offering pro bono digital campaign management for nonprofits
  • Time, optimising Giving.sg volunteering pages to encourage community involvement
  • Education/Equipment, donating refurbished laptops to low-income students

Koh hopes to inspire more companies to regularly give back, fostering a culture of corporate responsibility that can create lasting change in society.[11]
