In October 2021, an Instagram account with the handle @sgcickenrice was created, exposing NOC’S co-founder Sylvia Chan for alleged workplace abuse of staff and talents under her management.[18][19] The Instagram account is now defunct.

Nicole was one of the many ex-NOC employees who spoke to Mustsharenews in an interview published on 19 October 2021.[20] In this interview, Nicole details the times Sylvia would allegedly verbally abuse talents and staff on set if their performance was not up to par.[20] Nicole also claims that her payments were also withheld for long periods of time.[20]

On 29 October 2021, local blogger and influencer Xiaxue revealed on TikTok that @sgcickenrice was run by a 20-year-old student, Brandon Tan.[21] Brandon is a close friend of Nicole’s, and the two of them host the Not Gonna Lie podcast together on YouTube.[22][23]

Nicole went viral during NDP 2022 for a meme-worthy answer to the thing she was most grateful for that year.[6] “HDB for giving me a BTO queue number!”, which was promptly followed by, “Ya Kun kaya toast”.[6][24] Following this, she scored a promotional deal with local chain Ya Kun kaya toast.[25][26]
