Edward Chia Bing Hui (born 1984) is a Singaporean politician and the co-founder and managing director of the food and beverage company, Timbre Group. In June 2020, he was announced as a People's Action Party (PAP) candidate for the 2020 General Elections and is contesting for Holland-Bukit Timah GRC.[1]
Background
Edward Chia co-founded Timbre Group at 21 years old as an undergraduate.[2] In a video that was published on 29 June 2020, he shared that Timbre began as an idea to provide musicians in Singapore a platform to showcase their talent while earning a living from their craft.[3] In 2004, he won the National Youth Achievement Award (NYAA) Gold Award for his work at the Timbre Group.[4]
Early life & family
Edward Chia was born in 1984 to a father who ran an events company and a mother who was a housewife.[5] He has two younger siblings.
Education
Edward Chia went to Maris Stella High School.[6] He then studied at National Junior College before furthering his studies at the National University of Singapore (NUS).[7] He graduated in 2007 with a double degree in Economics and Political Science.[8]

Edward Chia was introduced as a People's Action Party (PAP) candidate on 24 June 2020.[9] On the PAP website, he is quoted to have said:
"I believe in the strength of communities because it has the grit and gumption to overcome challenges and seize opportunities. I hope to be part of your community so that we can build a brighter future for all of us."[10]
