Zhulkarnain Abdul Rahim (born 1981) is a Singaporean politician and lawyer at the legal practice, Dentons Rodyk & Davidson where he is a partner.[1] In June 2020, he was announced as a People's Action Party (PAP) candidate for the 2020 Singapore General Elections and is contesting in Chua Chu Kang GRC.[2]
Background
Zhulkarnain Abdul Rahim is a member of the Muslim Law Practice Committee of the Law Society in Singapore. He is also a member of the Maritime Law Association of Singapore. In 2017, he was a shortlisted finalist for the Young Lawyer of the Year Award, presented by the ALB SE Asia Law Awards.[3] He is also the Director of the Malay Heritage Foundation and a board member and council member on the Singapore Sports Council and National Council Against Drug Abuse respectively.[4] As of 2020, he is married with three children.[5]
Education
Zhulkarnain Abdul Rahim graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2005 with a degree in law.[6]
Post-graduate studies
In 2009, he received a certificate in Islamic banking and finance from the International Islamic University of Malaysia. Four years later, he received a Master of Law in Islamic law and finance from the Singapore Management University (SMU).[7]
Community & grassroots outreach
Zhulkarnain Abdul Rahim has been running free legal clinics at Al-Mukminin Mosque and and the Singapore Council of Women’s Organisation (SCWO) since 2009.[8] Before the general elections he has been volunteering in the Keat Hong division of Chua Chu Kang GRC.[9]

General Elections 2020 - Candidate (Chua Chu Kang GRC)
Zhulkarnain Abdul Rahim was introduced as People's Action Party (PAP) candidate on 25 June 2020.[10] He has stated his intentions for running in the elections on the PAP website. He says:
"In Singapore, our biggest resource is our people. We cannot let differing viewpoints and ideas divide us. To me, no matter what your political ideology or inclination is, I am committed to serve you in the best interest of our nation, because to me, every one of us matters."[11]
