Background
Early life & family
Chen Yixin was born on 26 April 2000 to the veteran Singaporean artistes Edmund Chen and Xiang Yun.[5][6] In secondary school, Chen recalled being bullied for having famous parents. In an interview published on 8 Days, she shared that:
“They’d gossip that my parents used their fame to get me in the front row during dance performances, or that the teachers showed bias towards me ‘cos (sic) of my celeb parents. I was very affected by it, and life was quite hard for me in school. I didn’t know who to trust and I didn’t want to go to school.”[7]
Chen Yixin also has an older brother, actor Chen Yi Xi (born 1991).[8][9]
Education
Chen Yixin is an alumna of Singapore Polytechnic, where she studied Applied Drama and Psychology at the Media, Arts and Design School from 2017 to 2020.[10][11]
Personal life
Chen is close friends with her fellow actress Tay Ying, who she grew up with.[12] They went to Shanghai together in 2018 to audition for an acting course at Motown, a Chinese entertainment academy.[13]
Acting
When asked about a cameo she made as a child actress in her father's short film, Echoing Love (2011), Chen Yixin was quoted to have said:
“The experience (acting) was terrifying. My face was so stiff. I don’t think I can act.”[14]
However, in October 2017, it was reported that Chen Yixin had signed with a local artiste management agency, Starlist.[15][16] The following is a timeline of Chen Yixin's acting experience over the years.

“Before the audition, I asked my parents for advice as I was very nervous. They told me to keep calm and not stress too much. They said that as long as I act myself, I’ll look natural. I don’t have to pretend that I’m someone else.”[29]
