Before joining the Boston Consulting Group in 2006, Mariam Jaafar was the chief of staff and chief operating officer of Barclays Wealth Management Asia, Middle East, and Africa. She had also worked at Vertex Management.[2] Outside of the professional sphere, she is vice-chairman of the Woodlands Community Club management committee and a GOVTECH Singapore board member.[3][4] Mariam Jaafar is a part of the Sembawang GRC team headed by Minister of Education, Ong Ye Kung.[5]

Mariam Jaafar was born in 1977 to parents who worked as a Malay teacher and a nurse. On top of his full-time job, her father worked as a translator to supplement the family's income.[6]
Education
Mariam Jaafar received the MENDAKI scholarship award in 1990.[7] She was a student at Raffles Girls Secondary School[8] and subsequently, Raffles Junior College.[9] Mariam Jaafar furthered her studies at Stanford University where she graduated with a bachelor's and master's degree in electrical engineering in 2000. In 2004, she pursued a Master's in Business Administration from Harvard Business School.[10]
