Personal life & family

Chen Yixin was born on 26 April 2000 to the veteran Singaporean artistes Edmund Chen and Xiang Yun.[5][6] She recalled being bullied in secondary school for having famous parents. In an interview published on 8 Days, Chen Yixin shared that:

“They’d gossip that my parents used their fame to get me in the front row during dance performances, or that the teachers showed bias towards me ‘cos (sic) of my celeb parents. I was very affected by it, and life was quite hard for me in school. I didn’t know who to trust and I didn’t want to go to school.”[7]

She also has an older brother, actor Chen Yi Xi (born 1991).[8][9] Chen Yixin grew up with her fellow actress Tay Ying, who she remains close friends with.[10] They went to Shanghai together in 2018 to audition for an acting course at Motown, a Chinese entertainment academy.[11]

Education

Chen Yixin is an alumna of Singapore Polytechnic, where she studied Applied Drama and Psychology at the Media, Arts and Design School from 2017 to 2020.[12][13]

Relationships

Chen Yixin and actor Gavin Teo announced their relationship on social media in March 2021.[14] Chen did, however, come forth to say that she and Gavin had been dating for some time before the announcement. In an interview with 8Days, Chen Yixin reveal that she did not date when she was younger due to her protective parents and brother.[15]

Chen Yixin's parents, Xiang Yun and Edmund Chen, have both posted Instagram stories and a post documenting Gavin Teo's presence at family gatherings.[16]

When asked about a cameo she made as a child actress in her father's short film, Echoing Love (2011), Chen Yixin was quoted to have said:

“The experience (acting) was terrifying. My face was so stiff. I don’t think I can act.”[17]

However, in October 2017, it was reported that Chen Yixin had signed with a local artiste management agency, Starlist.[18][19] As of October 2022, Chen is represented by Artiste Co.[20] The following is a timeline of Chen Yixin's acting experience over the years.
