Background

Blogging & YouTube

June already had an online following before joining the Miss Singapore International pageant in 2017. Through her Instagram, personal blog - thejunemonth[4] - and YouTube channel,[5] she uploaded travel and lifestyle content for her viewers.[6][7] As of May 2020, her self-established blog and YouTube channel are both defunct.

Early career - Singapore Airlines (SIA) air stewardess

In September 2016, June uploaded a photo of herself dressed in the iconic Singapore Airlines (SIA) kebaya with the caption:

“This month marks the last month of me being an ass to my passengers... Thank you Singapore airlines for shaping and growing me this (sic) few years”.[8]

Although June did not disclose when she joined the airline, it is clear that she was an SIA air stewardess through two other Instagram posts from 2016.[9][10]

Miss Singapore International (2017) - Winner

In 2017, June signed up as a candidate for Miss Singapore International, an annual pageant organised by the Singapore Women’s Association.[12][13] She was crowned “Miss Singapore International 2017" on 12 July 2017 at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront hotel.[14] As the new pageant winner, she was scheduled to represent Singapore at the Miss International pageant in Tokyo Japan.[15] However, her legacy was cut short by unforeseen circumstances that led to her resignation.

Newsworthy incidents

Private video leak (2017)

In 2017, an anonymous source released compromising videos of June and her boyfriend, Lloyd.[16] The couple had filmed the videos four years before the leak. Shortly after the incident, June relinquished her Miss Singapore International crown to first runner-up Kylie Yeo.[17] In January 2020, June shared on LADIES FIRST about how her career, health and academics had suffered due to the overwhelming public criticism at the time. She also defended her boyfriend from the accusations that he had leaked their intimate videos.[18]
